Summer Give-Away Day 1

Vicki Welsh has a great summer color give-away starting today, and has offered to let other blogs link to hers with their own give-aways.  So we're going to give it a whirl, with 5 days of  give-aways!

After Sue's spring cleaning a few weeks ago, she had some batik scraps that she cut up into squares.  The give-away for today, Monday, June 8, is this group of 45 5-inch batik squares, along with 23 3-inch squares.  These are NOT charm packs - there are 2 squares of most fabrics, a few are singles, and the black print with colored rectangles has the most pieces.
In addition, we will include a medium (5 x 2.5") butterfly thermofax screen to get you thinking about summer.

If you would like to be in the running to win this set of batik squares and thermofax screen, leave a comment telling us what your summer creative plans are - what new projects, techniques or classes are on your agenda?  The comments will remain open through Sunday, June 14 and a winner will be drawn on Monday, July 15.  US addresses only please.

Be sure to join in on Vicki's give-away, and check out the other link-ups too.  Come back every day this week for another chance to win!

  1. I'm finishing up a Kaffe Fassett quilt, then will start on some new adventures. Right now it looks like I'll start La Passacaglia and a flowering snowball quilt. Both are hand work which will be doable in South Carolina summer heat and humidity.

  12. My summer quilt list is very large. I will begin hosting 3 new QALs in July. Two are row quilts (spring and Americana) and the other is a medallon quilt. I also want to make a braided quilt for my niece and finish up some machine quilting as I am getting a brand new sit down long arm in today!

I LOVE batiks. Please include me in your drawing.

    1. If you need info on thermofax printing, there are tutorials on the blog (see tutorials link at top of page) and there's a great new DVD Thermofax 101 by Lyric Kinard that we reviewed in our May 1 post. Have fun!

  17. My first goal this summer is to get a new sewing room set up. We are re-locating from Florida to Michigan. The first new skill I want to work on is fabric painting. I have paint I can use, I think, and brushes, pens & pencils. I will look into making some stamps and then explore self made thermofax. I am hoping my sister and our two nieces will help with these projects.

  18. Good friend is first time grandmother - so we are working on some thermofaxed (is that a word?) pillows and quilt for the baby, working on a quilt for my daughter, a musical neighbor and several others. I found a pattern that will "play well" with lots of different kinds of fabrics and so I am making a lot of these. I am also going to try out a Sweet16 quilter. I don't really like that part of the process, so I am trying to figure out how to make it more friendly for me. Thanks for the opportunity to win a screen and great fabric.

  25. Thank you for this wonderful giveaway, and for your gorgeous blog! I just got some fabric inks and I'm going to try using them with shaving cream to marble fabric. Then I'm going to do some stenciling on it and make an art quilt.

  28. My summer plans are to spend part of the time working on quilts for gifts and one for me (I've quilted for 40 years and never made myself one and it is time!). The rest of the summer will be spent working through Jane Dunnewold's book and learning all that I can.

  29. I came across a sewing machine foot for making small flower motifs. I haven't had a change to try it out yet, due to a herniated disc giving me enough pain that I'm unable to sew at the moment. But hopefully soon I'll be back at it and play around with it.
