The Sewing and Quilting Expo last weekend was full of inspirational exhibits. The Dare to Dance: An Artist's Interpretation of Joy exhibit was curated by Mary Kerr of Woodbridge, VA, and consists of 32 quilts in which artists interpreted the theme. The quilts were published in a book by Schiffer Publications in 2014 and are touring to various venues. These were some of our favorites.
Our friend Sherry Whitford of Toano, VA, created Dare to Dance in Every Season of Your Life.
When She Dances is by Lisa Ellis of Fairfax, VA. Lisa is a member of SAQA and director of Sacred Threads, a biennial national quilt exhibit.
Linda Cooper, Burke, VA, is another local quilter and member of Quilters Unlimited; she created Wave Dancer based on a photo of her daughter.
Our friend Lisa Reber from Red Hill, PA, owner of Dippy Dyes, used her own wonderful ice dyed fabric for Space Bubbles II.
The Joy of Dancing on a Rainbow is by Judy Ross of Avon, CT. This piece has some beautiful quilting.
We love the ethereal quality of October Dancing by Peggy Brown of Nashville, Indiana.
Dancing on a Breeze is by Kathy McClaren of Manassas, VA.
